Maryfrances Carter Art & Clay
“Functional art for a beautiful life”… Maker of blue and white and some of the most beautiful pottery I have ever seen, I introduce to you Maryfrances Carter! Her art is clean, and classic, with a touch of whimsy. Perfect. Her wheel thrown, hand-painted, small batch ceramics are truly one of a kind! When I first stumbled upon this artist’s beautiful site and artwork I had to know more. Check out her website HERE.
“Hello…I’m Maryfrances Carter, an artist from Hickory, North Carolina, where I live with my husband, our four full-of-life kids, and a rambunctious pup, Wallie. I’ve been drawn to art and a creative practice my whole life. I seek to weave the spark of creativity in to everything I do. From a fallen leaf, to a budding flower, the world around me and life through my children’s eyes are constant inspirations. It’s my passion to create art that is both beautiful and functional.”
~Maryfrances Carter
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Maryfrances a little bit and she truly is a gem! She has a heart of gold and a passion for life, family and pottery. Gaining popularity rapidly, Maryfrances makes ceramics in small batches and they sell within minutes!
These mugs are the most beautiful mugs I have every seen!
Each cup is brought to life from a white stoneware clay thrown on the wheel. A minimal handle is added and it undergoes the first of two firings (bisque) in a kiln. Once the cups cool, a floral motif is meticulously hand-drawn, the cup is dipped in a clear glaze, and fired for the last time at 2232 degrees Fahrenheit. Earth and art are forever bonded! These indigo and white pieces are ready to be used daily and loved for a lifetime.
Because each piece has been carefully created by a human hand, they are not exact replicas but rather closely related in size and shape.
Cups are dishwasher and microwave safe. But as with anything handmade, it’s more loving to wash by hand. All glazes are lead-free and dinnerware safe.
The little bows on these vases makes me smile! She is truly one of my all time favorite potters/artists. Her pieces reflect her heart!
I highly recommend signing up on her website for info on her latest launches so you can be some of the first to purchase and be sure not to miss out. From breath taking vases with charming bow accents, to every day coffee/tea mugs, to stationary and even wallpaper, this artist takes the cake in specialty design. Her work produces heirlooms to grace our homes for a lifetime!
